The size of a large pigeon with bill, iris and legs bright yellow. The plumage is wonderfully cryptic, camouflaging well into the surroundings. It is found on extensive arable land and open plains. Its fluty call is heard at dusk and dawn. It feeds on beetles, crickets, grasshoppers and slugs.
