Similar in appearance to the Sparrowhawk but larger and more heavily-built with stronger legs. It is a medium-sized raptor associated with forests where it can hunt prey from the size of sparrows to that of hares, taking prey both from the ground as well as in the air. They nest in trees in mature forest and are present throughout the year.
