Common Grasshopper Warbler

Locustella naevia

Presence:

Estival-En paso

Smaller than a sparrow, with dark greenish-brown mottled plumage on the upperparts, with a more yellowish breast and whiter belly. It is associated with marshy vegetation and river valleys. It feeds on small invertebrates such as spiders and insects. In Extremadura it is present only on migration and is very hard to detect because of its camouflaged plumage and the dense vegetation in which it occurs.
