A strikingly plumaged bird, with upperparts, wings and tail ashy bluish grey and the underparts bright yellow, with a black throat in the male. This wagtail is closely associated with faster flowing water and is therefore commonest in northern Extremadura. It feeds on insects and other invertebrates that it captures whilst searching the water’s edge. It occurs throughout the year in the breeding areas, whilst birds from further north are found throughout Extremadura during the winter.
