A small finch with brownish-yellow plumage, characterised by its vibrant yellow forehead and breast and its distinctive, shrill song.
In Extremadura, it is a very common resident species, although its population increases during the winter with arrivals from mainland Europe. It inhabits open areas, dehesas (wooded pastures), olive groves, and urban parks. It is included in the List of Wild Species under Special Protection, which prohibits its capture or harm within the region.
