A bird with entirely black, glossy plumage, featuring purple and green iridescence that is particularly prominent in spring. It is distinguished from the Common Starling by the absence of pale spots during the breeding season and by its long throat feathers. In Extremadura, it is a highly adaptable and abundant species, found in dehesas, agricultural areas, parks, and urban centres. It is a year-round resident, forming large and noisy flocks. The species enjoys a wide distribution and a stable population trend.
