Larger than a Song Thrush, with duller upperparts and lacking the yellowish tones on the breast. It has bolder and more rounded dark spots on the underparts. It can be found in oak, cork oak, pine and chestnut woods as well as dehesas. It is rather shy but delivers a beautiful song on spring afternoons, particularly after storms. It feeds on snails, as well as worms and insects. It is present throughout the year.
