Extremadura is participating for the first time in the Global Wildlife Fair, a wildlife conservation and ecotourism trade show taking place in New Delhi, India, from 10th to 12th October.
Extremadura Tourist Board has its own stand to promote the region as one of Europe’s best nature and birdwatching destinations, at an event that brings together tourism operators, institutions, and conservation organisations from India and other Asian countries.
In addition to promoting the region’s natural resources, the Extremadura information point will publicise the work of the Birding Club, a pioneering initiative in Spain that brings together members from the public and private sectors to boost ornithological tourism and offer a quality service to clients. This product club includes everything from accommodation providers and nature guides to travel agencies, photographic service companies, tourist offices, and visitor centres.
Collaboration and Visibility
The Regional Government’s collaboration with the New Delhi fair does not end on 12th October; instead, it will be extended online for a year with participation in webinars, podcasts, and access to the Global Wildlife Tourism Alliance, an international network that will facilitate opportunities for collaboration, visibility, and sustainable development.
Internationalisation has been one of the Birding Club’s priorities since its foundation in 2012. This initiative, created by the Extremadura Tourist Board, regularly attends the sector’s major events in Europe, such as the UK’s Global Birdfair and Sweden’s Falsterbo Bird Show, and has been present at specialised events in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, the United States, and Colombia, among other countries.
